About Cheer for Dana-Farber
Q: What is Cheer for Dana-Farber?
A: Cheer for Dana-Farber is a program where cheerleading squads raise vital funds for cancer care and research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. Cheerleading squads can raise money in their community through bake sales, car washes, and other fun activities and win great prizes such as a chance to perform a routine prior to a New England Patriots preseason game or participate in a cheer clinic with New England Patriots Cheerleaders. The program runs from May 1 through December 1 to qualify for prizes. Additional proceeds may be accepted by Dana-Farber through December 16, 2018 at 5pm EDT.
Q: Why should I join Cheer for Dana-Farber?
A: When you participate, you help further cancer research and patient care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute while learning the importance of philanthropy and volunteerism and providing hope to adults and children being treated for cancer worldwide. You may also choose to "Sponsor a Participant."

About Participating in Cheer for Dana-Farber
Q: Who can participate in Cheer for Dana-Farber?
A: Any cheerleader, cheerleading coach or team parent can participate in Cheer for Dana-Farber! Confirm with the cheerleading coach that your team can participate and distinguish one person to start a team. You can start or join a team at your school, youth league, Pop Warner organization, or private gym.
Q: I want to participate in Cheer for Dana-Farber, but don’t want to start or join a Cheer Team. Is this allowed?
A: You may also choose to "Sponsor a Participant."
Q: How will I be notified when someone joins my Cheer for Dana-Farber team by registering online?
A: You can quickly review your team participants by visiting your team page and scrolling to the bottom of the page. Each team member will be listed under “Team Members” and will have links to their personal fundraising pages. The team coach who created your online team will also receive notifications via email each time someone joins your team.
Q: Can my workplace or school have multiple Cheer Teams?
A: Yes, your school or organization can have as many Cheer teams as it wants. However, each team is considered separate when prizes are distributed at the end of the program. Each team should limit their cheerleaders to 35 per team. If you have further questions about team size please email Cheer@dfci.harvard.edu.
Q: How do I find my Cheer Team's page online?
A: Cheer@dfci.harvard.edu or call 617-632-3190.
Q: How does my individual fundraising page work?
A: Each participant has the option to use their individual fundraising page, if he or she wishes to ask friends and family to support the team's goal. When registering, each participant will have the ability to create their own personal fundraising goal. The goal is not required; each individual participant can choose to forgo this feature.
Q: When does Cheer for Dana-Farber fundraising end?
A: To qualify for prizes, all gifts must be received by Dana-Farber by December 1, 2018, 5 p.m. EDT. Additional donations may be accepted through December 16, 2018.
Q: How is the money collected?
A: Funds can be collected online through your team fundraising page at CheerForDanaFarber.org. When people join your team at CheerForDanaFarber.org, they receive an individual fundraising page. All funds raised on individual pages will count towards the team’s total. If team members want to collect cash, we do not accept cash through the mail, but any bank or credit union will exchange the cash for a cashier's check or post office will turn into a money order. Any checks collected can be made payable to "Dana-Farber Cancer Institute" and sent along with your deposit form to:

Q: How can I spread the word about Cheer for Dana-Farber using social media?
A: Post photos on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram using #CheerForDanaFarber of your team at fundraising events or games at your events. Tag your teammates to spread the word even more!
Q: My workplace has a matching gift program. Can my team utilize this resource?
A: Yes. The donor should follow their workplace procedures for securing a matching gift. They then should submit any necessary matching gift paperwork, to Cheer for Dana-Farber, provided by the donor’s workplace. Learn more about matching gifts.
Q: What are matching gifts?
A: Many corporations sponsor matching gift programs, where they match gifts dollar for dollar and sometimes double or triple match these gifts. Please ask your company’s administrator if they have such a program.
